Sizing

How many porta potties do I need for my party?

A party of up to 50 guests for 4 hours needs 1 standard porta potty. A 4–8 hour party needs 1 unit per 35 guests, and a party over 8 hours needs 1 per 25. Add 1 unit per 100 guests if alcohol is served, and 1 hand-wash station for every 2 toilets when food is served.

Our house sizing method: 1 per 50 guests up to 4 hours, 1 per 35 for 4–8 hours, 1 per 25 over 8 hours, always rounded up.

Public events in parks often need a wheelchair-accessible unit. One church in our call logs was told by the park that it needed 2 units, 1 of them accessible. See the wheelchair-accessible porta potty for specs, or the full porta potty sizing guide for more examples.

Method: Brandon Rental Works house rule — 1 unit per 50 guests up to 4 hours, 1 per 35 for 4–8 hours, 1 per 25 beyond 8 hours, always rounded up; accessible count from 2010 ADA Standards §213.2 (5%, minimum 1).

Scheduling

When do you drop off and pick up for a weekend party?

A weekend party porta potty is usually dropped off Thursday or Friday and picked up Monday. The extra days cost nothing, because 1 flat event price covers 1–5 days on site. Saturday delivery runs 7 am to 7 pm if Friday does not work for your site.

  1. Book with the date, ZIP and guest count. Peak weekends fill up, so call early.
  2. Pay the itemized invoice by card or secure online link to hold the date.
  3. Get your delivery window. Dispatch sets a 4-hour window and the driver texts about 30 minutes ahead.
  4. Mark the spot. A cone, flag or texted photo. Nobody has to be home.
  5. Enjoy the party. No cleaning on your end; just keep the door latched when not in use.
  6. Monday pickup. The driver loads it from the same spot. Leave the path clear.

rentals were for a single-day event, the most common rental we see. A one-day party still gets the unit for the whole weekend at the same flat price.

Placement

Where should the porta potty go at a backyard party?

Most hosts put the party porta potty on the side of the house near the trash cans, away from the food table. The spot must be level and firm. A standard 43.5-inch-wide unit needs a gate at least 48 inches wide to reach a backyard, and our crew can cart an empty unit about 25 feet.

  • Out of the way, not out of sight. Guests should find it without asking, but it should not face the patio.
  • Not in front of the garage or front door. Cars and guests need those paths.
  • Sloped driveway? Pick the flattest nearby spot, like a mulched bed or lawn edge.
  • Lights after dark. A path light or lantern near the door helps evening guests.
  • Low wires. Cable lines over the driveway must be 12 feet up or we need another route.

More spacing and access tips are in the porta potty placement guide.

Kids & hand washing

Do I need a hand-wash station for a kids' party?

A kids' party with food should have 1 hand-wash station next to the porta potty. Kids wash after the toilet, before cake and after the bounce house without crowding the unit. Our 2-sink PolyJohn Bravo station has foot pumps, soap and paper towels, and holds about 34 gallons of fresh water.

Hand washing was one of the most common add-ons in our calls. Parents liked that a station outside the unit keeps the toilet free for the next guest.

Compare the hand-wash station and the deluxe flushing unit with sink before you choose.

Kid tip: Kids can find a porta potty door heavy. Prop a small step stool at the hand-wash station, not inside the unit, and send an adult with the youngest ones.
Rural homes

Will a porta potty protect my septic system during a party?

Yes. A party porta potty keeps guest traffic off a home septic system, because the 60-gallon holding tank in a standard unit catches the waste instead. Rural Denton County hosts with septic tanks rent 1 unit for this reason. We pump the unit at our yard after pickup, so nothing goes into your system.

A typical septic tank is sized for the people who live in the house, not for a crowd. A big party in one afternoon can overload the drain field. A clogged system after a party costs far more than one rental.

  • Ask guests to use the porta potty, and keep the house bathroom for family.
  • Place the unit away from the septic lid and the drain field, so the truck does not drive over them.
  • Sandy ground near Krum, Ponder and Argyle can bog a truck. Pick a spot near the driveway.

The full explainer is in septic systems and party porta potties.

Mark your septic lid and lines. Tell dispatch where the tank and drain field are. The driver keeps the truck off them and places the unit on firm ground.
Event types

Can I rent a porta potty for a funeral, reunion, graduation or church outreach?

Yes. Funerals, family reunions, graduation parties and church outreach events are booked as 1 flat event rental in Denton. Each event type has a different timing need: a funeral may need same-day delivery, while graduation weekends in May and December sell out 2–3 weeks ahead. Tell dispatch the event type when you call.

Funerals and family gatherings

Short notice is normal. Call by noon Monday–Saturday for same-day delivery in Denton County. We place the unit to the side, away from the gathering, and pick it up the next business day.

Graduation parties

UNT and TWU graduation weekends in May and December are some of our busiest dates. Book 2–3 weeks ahead. Food is almost always served, so plan 1 hand-wash station per 2 toilets.

Church outreach and park events

Parks may require a wheelchair-accessible unit. Plan at least 1 per cluster (5% minimum). Mark the exact spot on a map, like "next to the soccer field by the big tree," and we put it there.

Birthdays and reunions

Most are single-day backyard events. Use the calculator above, add hand washing when food is served, and plan a Friday drop with Monday pickup.

Full cost

What does the flat event price include?

The flat event price covers 1 to 5 days on site, delivery, setup, pickup, toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Your itemized quote adds any hand-wash station, same-day or distance fee, and Denton's 8.25% sales tax. Nothing is added after you pay: no fuel surcharge and no card fee.

  • Unit type and count, with any accessible or deluxe units listed separately.
  • Rental dates: the drop day and pickup day.
  • Delivery and pickup, with any zone fee outside Denton County.
  • Same-day fee, only if you book same-day, and quoted first.
  • Sales tax, shown as its own line.

Typical price ranges are in the FAQ below and on the porta potty rental cost guide.

FAQ

Party and family event porta potty questions

Is a graduation party porta potty priced differently than a birthday?
No. Every party uses the same flat event price for 1–5 days on site. A standard unit typically runs $165–$245 before tax, and a hand-wash station typically runs $95–$165. Graduation weekends in May and December book up first, so the date matters more than the occasion.
Is a porta potty OK for little kids at a birthday party?
Yes, with an adult nearby. The standard unit has a 19-inch seat, an occupancy latch and a translucent roof that keeps it bright inside. Add a hand-wash station outside the unit so kids wash without crowding the toilet, and keep the youngest ones with a parent.
Will a porta potty keep my septic tank from filling up during a party?
Yes. Every guest who uses the porta potty is a flush your septic tank does not take. Rural hosts in our call logs rented a unit for exactly that reason. A standard unit has a 60-gallon holding tank, and we pump it at our yard after pickup, so nothing goes into your system.
Can I rent one for a funeral, reunion or family gathering?
Yes. Funerals, receptions, reunions and family gatherings are booked as a regular flat event rental. For a short-notice service, call (940) 275-3799 by noon Monday through Saturday for same-day delivery in Denton County. We place the unit quietly to the side, and pickup is the next business day.
Will it be there in time for my event start, like 11 am Saturday?
Yes. Weekend events are usually dropped Thursday or Friday, so the porta potty is in place the morning of your party. We also deliver Saturdays from 7 am to 7 pm, but a Friday drop removes any timing worry for an early start.
Will you clean it during my weekend event?
No mid-event cleaning is needed for a normal 1–3 day party. The unit arrives pumped, sanitized and stocked with toilet paper and sanitizer, and we service it at pickup. For a long day with a big crowd, add a second unit instead of a service visit.
Can you send the invoice to someone else to pay, like the church office?
Yes. We email or text a secure online invoice link with a Pay Now button. Forward it to your church office, spouse or event treasurer, and they pay by card. Event dates are held once the invoice is paid in full.
