What you get

What is a restroom trailer?

A restroom trailer is a towed, climate-controlled bathroom with real flushing toilets, sinks with running water, mirrors and lights. We rent 2 sizes: a 2-stall trailer and a 3-station trailer. Each restroom trailer needs a level spot, 20–30 feet of room for the trailer and a standard 120V outlet within 100 feet.

Site needs

What does a restroom trailer need on site?

A restroom trailer needs 4 things on site: a standard 120V outlet within 100 feet, level and firm ground, 20–30 feet of open length for the trailer, and a clear path for the truck to back it in. A water hookup is optional because the trailer carries an on-board tank. Missing any one of the first 4 is a problem.

NeedWhat it meansHow to check
PowerA standard 120V outlet within 100 ft runs the lights, A/C and heat.Find an outdoor outlet, barn outlet or venue panel. Measure the walk to the spot.
Level groundThe trailer must sit level for doors, sinks and toilets to work right.A driveway, parking pad or flat lawn. No slopes or ditches.
Space20–30 ft of trailer length, plus room to open the doors and reach the steps.Pace it off, then add a few feet at each end.
Truck pathAbout 10–11 ft wide with no wires or branches under 12 ft, and room to back in.Text a photo of the route and spot to dispatch.
WaterOptional. The on-board tank covers most events.A garden hose spigot nearby helps on long or busy events.
Ground conditionsSoft or wet ground can bog the truck and trailer.Pick pavement, gravel or high ground after rain.
Denton ground tip. Sandy Cross Timbers soil west of I-35 near Argyle, Krum and Ponder can bog a heavy truck after rain. Blackland Prairie clay east of Denton turns slick. Barn and ranch weddings should pick a gravel drive or high spot for the trailer.
Trailer vs deluxe unit

Should I rent a restroom trailer or deluxe porta potties?

Rent a restroom trailer when the event is formal, guests will be dressed up, and you have a 120V outlet, level ground and 20–30 feet of room. Rent deluxe porta potties when there is no power, the spot is tight or sloped, or the budget is smaller. Each deluxe PolyJohn Fleet flushes and has a sink, with no power needed.

Honest trade-offs

When is a restroom trailer the wrong choice?

A restroom trailer is the wrong choice in 5 cases: there is no 120V outlet within 100 feet, the ground is sloped or soft, the spot is behind a gate or down a narrow path, you need it today, or the event is a jobsite. In each case, deluxe or standard porta potties do the job better.

  • No power. Without 120V, the trailer has no lights or climate control. Rent deluxe units.
  • Slope or soft ground. A trailer must sit level. A pasture after rain can bog the truck.
  • Tight access. A trailer cannot be carted. It needs a drive-in route about 10–11 ft wide.
  • Same-day need. Trailers are booked ahead. Same-day stock is standard units and hand-wash stations.
  • Jobsites. Crews are better served by construction site toilets with weekly service.
Accessibility. Restroom trailers are entered by steps. If any guest uses a wheelchair, or the event is public, add a wheelchair-accessible porta potty next to the trailer. The 2010 ADA Standards §213.2 call for at least 5% of portable units in each cluster (minimum 1) to be accessible.
Climate control

Do restroom trailers have air conditioning?

Yes. Our restroom trailers have air conditioning and heat, powered by a standard 120V outlet within 100 feet. Climate control matters in Denton, where the average July high is about 96°F. A cool trailer keeps guests comfortable, keeps makeup intact at weddings, and keeps odor down far better than a sun-baked plastic unit.

In winter, the heat keeps the restroom comfortable for evening holiday parties and December graduations. Plan the outlet early. A long extension run across a walkway is a trip hazard, so we place the trailer where the cord can stay out of foot traffic.

Questions dispatch will ask

  • Where is the nearest outdoor outlet, and how far is it from the spot?
  • Is the spot level, and is it paved, gravel or grass?
  • How wide is the drive, and are there wires or branches under 12 ft?
  • How many guests, and how many hours?
  • Does any guest need a wheelchair-accessible unit?
Cleaning & servicing

How is a restroom trailer cleaned during my event?

A restroom trailer arrives cleaned, sanitized, stocked with toilet paper, soap and paper towels, and filled with fresh water. A 1–3 day event normally needs no mid-event service. Multi-day events and festivals can add daily or nightly service visits, which pump the waste tank, refill fresh water and restock supplies.

  1. Set up: the crew levels the trailer, connects power and tests lights, flush and climate control.
  2. During the event: you keep the doors closed when not in use so the A/C holds.
  3. Service visits (multi-day): pump, refill, clean and restock.
  4. Pickup: the crew disconnects, closes up and tows the trailer out on the scheduled day.

Timing

How far ahead should I book a restroom trailer?

Book a restroom trailer 2–3 weeks ahead for most weekends. Book earlier for Denton's busiest dates: the Denton Arts & Jazz Festival in late April, UNT and TWU graduations in May and December, the North Texas State Fair & Rodeo in August, and UNT home football Saturdays. Restroom trailers are not part of our same-day stock.

Weekend events are usually set up Thursday or Friday and picked up Monday. That gives the crew daylight to level the trailer and test power before guests arrive, and you a day to check it.

City park or public event? City of Denton special event permits go through Parks & Recreation, (940) 349-7275, and the site map must show restroom locations. Apply 60 days ahead, or 90 with alcohol or amplified noise. Steps are in our Denton event permit guide.
FAQ

Restroom trailer questions

Do you have luxury units or restroom trailers with AC?
Yes. We rent 2-stall and 3-station restroom trailers with flushing toilets, sinks, mirrors, lights and climate control (A/C and heat). The trailer needs a standard 120V outlet within 100 feet to run the lights and climate control.
How much is a restroom trailer for a weekend?
A restroom trailer typically runs $795–$2,500 for a weekend before sales tax, from a 2-stall trailer up to a large trailer. Delivery distance, dates and service visits change the number, and every line shows on your itemized quote. See the porta potty rental cost guide for what sets the price.
What if there's no outlet near where the trailer goes?
Tell dispatch before you book. The trailer needs a standard 120V outlet within 100 feet for lights, A/C and heat. Without power, the trailer has no lights, A/C or heat. Deluxe flushing units need no power and are the better choice for a site with no outlet.
Do I have to hook up water?
No. A water hookup is optional because the trailers carry an on-board fresh-water tank. A garden hose connection can help on long or busy events; dispatch tells you if your event length calls for one.
Is a restroom trailer worth it for a wedding?
For a formal wedding with power on site, many hosts feel it is. Guests get flushing toilets, running sinks, mirrors, lights and air conditioning in a Texas summer. For a casual backyard wedding, or a site without power or level ground, deluxe flushing units with sinks give most of the comfort for less.
Can you supply restroom trailers and hand-wash stations for an emergency shelter?
Call (940) 275-3799 and dispatch checks trailer availability that day. In our call review, 1 of 27 callers was an emergency manager setting up a shelter, who needed restroom trailers plus hand-wash stations. Standard units and hand-wash stations can often go out the same day while a trailer is lined up.
How far ahead should I book a restroom trailer?
Book 2–3 weeks ahead for most weekends, and earlier for May and December graduation weekends, the Denton Arts & Jazz Festival weekend in late April, and fall UNT football Saturdays. Restroom trailers are not same-day stock.
