The lineup

What types of portable restrooms can I rent?

Brandon Rental Works rents 6 types of portable restrooms: the standard PolyJohn PJN3, the deluxe flushing PolyJohn Fleet with sink, the wheelchair-accessible PolyJohn Comfort XL, the 2-sink PolyJohn Bravo hand-wash station, 2-stall and 3-station restroom trailers, and a standard unit mounted on a towable single-axle trailer for crews that move.

Side by side

How do the types of portable restrooms compare?

The 5 main types of portable restrooms differ on 6 points: flushing, hand washing, wheelchair access, water and power needs, footprint and limits. Standard units need nothing and fit a 48-inch gate. Deluxe units add a flush and sink. Accessible units add a roll-in floor. Restroom trailers add power-driven comfort but need 120V and 20–30 feet of level room.

Specs from PolyJohn manufacturer sheets; hand-wash sizes are approximate. Guest counts use our house sizing rule; crew counts use OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51(c) Table D-1.

Decision flow

Which portable restroom should I choose?

Choose a portable restroom by answering 5 questions in order: who is coming, is food served, is it formal, is there power, and how wide is the access. Most renters land on standard units. A public event adds 1 accessible unit per cluster, food adds hand-wash stations, and a formal event with power can step up to a trailer.

  1. If it is a jobsite or crew, then choose standard units: 1 per 20 workers minimum, with weekly service.
  2. If the event is open to the public or a guest uses a wheelchair, then make at least 5% (minimum 1) of each cluster a wheelchair-accessible unit.
  3. If food is served or kids attend, then add 1 hand-wash station for every 2 toilets (minimum 1).
  4. If guests expect a flush and a sink, then choose deluxe flushing units.
  5. If it is formal, you have a 120V outlet within 100 ft and 20–30 ft of level room, then consider a restroom trailer.
  6. If the only path is a gate under 48 inches, then place units out front, or choose standard units and a hand-wash station for a 48-in gate.
  7. If you need it today, then choose standard units and hand-wash stations, our same-day stock.

Worked example: 80-guest church picnic in a park, 5 hours, with lunch

  1. 80 guests ÷ 35 per unit (4–8 hours) = 2.3, round up to 3 toilets.
  2. Public park: 5% of 3, minimum 1 = 1 wheelchair-accessible + 2 standard.
  3. Lunch served: 3 toilets ÷ 2 = 1.5, round up to 2 hand-wash stations.
  4. No power and a grass field, so no trailer.

Method: our house sizing rule plus the 2010 ADA Standards §213.2. Run your own numbers in the porta potty sizing calculator.

Space & access

Which portable restroom fits through my gate?

Only 2 of our units fit a typical 48-inch backyard gate: the 43.5-inch standard porta potty and the 35-inch hand-wash station. The 47-inch deluxe unit is too tight for a 48-inch gate, the 62-inch accessible unit needs a drive-in path, and a restroom trailer needs 20–30 feet of level room plus a truck route.

Universal placement rules. Level, firm ground. A truck path about 10–11 feet wide with nothing under 12 feet. Our crew can cart an empty unit about 25 feet. Keep 3 feet clear at the door. Read more in the porta potty placement guide.
Servicing

How is each type of portable restroom serviced?

Every type of portable restroom leaves our Denton yard cleaned, sanitized and stocked. Events of 1–3 days normally need no mid-event service. Jobsite and long-term rentals get 1 service per week, included in the 28-day rate. Units with sinks also get fresh water refilled, and multi-day festivals can add daily or nightly service visits.

TypeWhat each service coversWatch for
StandardPump 60-gal tank, sanitize, restock paper and sanitizerCrews of 11–20: 2× weekly
Deluxe flushingPump, refill fresh water, restock soap and towelsFresh water can run low on heavy days
Wheelchair-accessiblePump 33-gal tank, sanitize, restockSmaller tank on busy multi-day events
Hand-wash stationEmpty grey water, refill ~34 gal, restockFood events use more water
Restroom trailerPump, refill, clean, restockMulti-day events: add service visits
Summer heat. Denton's average July high is about 96°F. Heat speeds up odor in every plastic unit. Place units in shade and add a second weekly service for crews of 10+ from June to September.
Timing

How fast can each type of portable restroom arrive?

Standard porta potties and hand-wash stations can arrive the same day in Denton and most Denton County ZIPs when you call by noon, Monday through Saturday. Deluxe flushing units, wheelchair-accessible units and restroom trailers usually go out next-day or later. For big Denton weekends, book any type 2–3 weeks ahead.

FAQ

Choosing a portable restroom: questions from callers

I've never rented one before. What do you recommend?
Start with 3 facts: how many guests or workers, how many hours, and whether food or alcohol is served. Most first-time renters need standard units, plus 1 hand-wash station if food is served. Add a deluxe unit for a wedding and an accessible unit for a public event. Dispatch picks the mix with you in about 2 minutes at (940) 275-3799.
What's the difference between a standard and a deluxe unit?
A standard PolyJohn PJN3 has a seat, a urinal and hand sanitizer, with no flush and no sink. A deluxe PolyJohn Fleet adds a foot-pump flush and a sink with soap and paper towels. For an event, standard typically runs $165–$245 and deluxe $245–$365 before sales tax. See the deluxe unit page.
Which type of portable restroom is cheapest?
The standard porta potty is the lowest-cost toilet, typically $165–$245 for an event before sales tax. A hand-wash station typically adds $95–$165. A wheelchair-accessible unit typically runs $225–$325, a deluxe unit $245–$365, and a restroom trailer $795–$2,500 for a weekend. Full detail is in the porta potty rental cost guide.
Can I mix different types in one order?
Yes. Mixed orders are common and ride on the same truck. A typical public event pairs standard units with 1 wheelchair-accessible unit and hand-wash stations. A wedding might pair a restroom trailer with 1 accessible unit for guests who cannot use steps.
Which units can you deliver the same day?
Standard units and hand-wash stations are our same-day stock in Denton and most Denton County ZIPs when you call by noon, Mon–Sat. Deluxe, wheelchair-accessible and restroom trailer orders are usually next-day or later, so book those ahead.
Which type do I need for a jobsite?
A standard porta potty. OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51(c) Table D-1 allows 1 toilet for up to 20 workers, and our PJN3 has the seat and urinal the table counts. Add a hand-wash station for crews handling paint, coatings or chemicals. See construction site toilets.
