Most porta potty renters are not contractors. In the 27 rental calls we reviewed this year, 19 came from homeowners, and the single most common rental was a one-day party. This checklist walks through every decision in the order dispatch asks about it, so one phone call books the whole thing.

How many porta potties do I need for a backyard party?

A backyard party in Denton needs 1 standard porta potty for every 50 guests when the party runs up to 4 hours. A 4–8 hour party needs 1 porta potty per 35 guests. Add 1 more porta potty for every 100 guests if alcohol is served. Always round up, never down.

That is our house sizing method, the same one dispatch uses on every call. Guests at a home party can usually use the house bathroom too. Still, one indoor bathroom fills up fast once the yard is full.

Worked examples using our house method. 120 ÷ 35 = 3.4, round up to 4, then add 2 for alcohol (1 per 100 guests, rounded up).

Want the math done for you? The porta potty sizing calculator runs the same rules, including hand-wash stations.

Which porta potty should I rent for a party at home?

A standard porta potty fits most Denton backyard parties. The PolyJohn PJN3 has a seat, a urinal, 2 toilet paper rolls, a mirror and a translucent roof for daylight. Pick a deluxe flushing porta potty with a sink for weddings and showers. Add a hand-wash station whenever food is served.

Hand washing comes up more than any other feature. Families with small kids ask about it most.

From our call logs
9 of 27

callers (33%) asked about a sink or hand washing. Most party renters chose a standard unit plus a separate 2-sink hand-wash station, so kids wash up outside and the toilet line keeps moving.

Where should the porta potty go in my yard?

The porta potty should sit on level, firm ground the truck can reach, about 5 by 5 feet with 3 feet clear in front of the door. The side of the house near the trash cans is the most common spot. A backyard spot needs a gate at least 48 inches wide.

Our crew can cart an empty unit about 25 feet from the truck. The truck itself needs a path about 10–11 feet wide with nothing lower than 12 feet. Keep the door facing the party, not the street.

  • Not on a slope. A sloped driveway can tip the unit. Pick the flattest spot nearby.
  • Not on the sidewalk or street. Public right-of-way needs a city permit.
  • Away from the front door and garage. Guests should not walk past it to get in.
  • Near a light at night. A porch light or a solar stake light helps evening guests.

The full rules, with gate widths for every unit, are in our porta potty placement guide.

When will the party porta potty be delivered and picked up?

A porta potty for a Saturday party is usually delivered Thursday or Friday and picked up Monday. The extra days cost nothing, because a party rental is one flat price for 1–5 days on site. We also deliver on Saturdays from 7 am to 7 pm if Friday does not work.

Early delivery means the unit is in place before your first guest arrives. No one is waiting on a truck while the grill heats up. We explain the full schedule in why a Saturday party unit arrives Friday.

Do I need to be home when the porta potty is delivered?

No. Nobody needs to be home when the porta potty is delivered. Mark the spot with a cone, flag or sign, or text a photo of the spot to (940) 275-3799. Leave the gate unlocked or give us the gate code. The driver calls or texts about 30 minutes before arrival.

Dispatch gives you a 4-hour delivery window. If you prefer morning or afternoon, say so when you book and we note it on the route.

What should I tell dispatch when I call?

Have 7 details ready when you call about a party porta potty: the address or ZIP, the party date, the guest count, how long the party runs, whether food or alcohol is served, the exact spot, and any gate code or low wire. With those 7 answers, booking takes about 5 minutes.

  1. Address and ZIP. Rural lot with no address? Send a Google Maps pin.
  2. Date and hours. Start and end time sets the unit count.
  3. Guest count. Include kids. Kids use the restroom often.
  4. Food or alcohol. Food adds hand washing; alcohol adds a unit.
  5. The spot. Front, side or backyard, plus a backup spot.
  6. Obstacles. Gate width, gate codes, HOA rules, low cable lines, parked cars.
  7. Billing ZIP. Use the ZIP your card company has on file.

How do I keep the porta potty clean during the party?

A porta potty for a 1–3 day party arrives pumped, sanitized and stocked, so it needs no service during the party. Keep a small trash can outside the door, prop a spare roll of toilet paper inside, and put a hand-wash station or sanitizer nearby. Those 3 steps keep the porta potty usable all night.

Paper towels and wipes do not belong in the tank. A trash can by the door catches them. Point the door away from the afternoon sun if you can. In summer, our Texas heat guide has more tips on shade and odor.

What should the party porta potty quote include?

A Brandon Rental Works party quote lists 6 lines: the unit type, the rental days, delivery and pickup, any same-day or distance fee, servicing, and Denton's 8.25% sales tax. Party rentals are paid in full to hold the date. Cancel 24 hours or more before delivery for a full refund.

Taxes and fees added after the first number were the top complaint in calls we reviewed. That is why our first number is the full number. Before you book anyone, run through our 10 questions to ask before booking.

Card tip: 4 of the 27 calls we reviewed had a card decline because the billing ZIP did not match. Use the ZIP your bank has on file, or pay through our secure online invoice link.

What is the timeline for renting a party porta potty?

Book a party porta potty 1–2 weeks ahead for a normal weekend and 2–3 weeks ahead for busy Denton dates like graduation weekends or the Arts & Jazz Festival. If you are late, call by noon Monday through Saturday for same-day delivery of a standard unit in most Denton ZIPs.

FAQ

Backyard party porta potty questions

How much is a porta potty for a backyard party in Denton?
A standard porta potty for a backyard party in Denton typically runs $165–$245 before sales tax. That flat event price covers 1–5 days on site, delivery, setup, pickup, toilet paper and sanitizer. A hand-wash station typically adds $95–$165 before tax. Your itemized quote shows the 8.25% Denton sales tax before you pay.
Will one porta potty be enough for 60 people?
For a party up to 4 hours, yes: our method is 1 standard unit per 50 guests, and guests at a home can also use the house bathroom. For a 4–8 hour party with 60 guests, plan 2 units. If you serve alcohol, add 1 more. Try the porta potty calculator with your numbers.
Can I get a porta potty with a sink inside for my party?
Yes. The deluxe PolyJohn Fleet unit has a foot-pump flush and a sink with soap and paper towels inside. It typically runs $245–$365 before tax for an event. Many families pick a standard unit plus a separate hand-wash station instead, which keeps the line moving when kids wash up.
Do you put the porta potty in the backyard or the front yard?
We place it wherever the truck can reach and the ground is level. A backyard works if the gate is at least 48 inches wide and the spot is within about 25 feet of where the truck can park. If not, the side yard by the trash cans is the most common choice.
What if it rains on my party day?
Rain does not stop a porta potty rental. We still deliver and pick up on schedule. Pick a spot on gravel, concrete or high ground, because black clay east of Denton turns slick and sandy lots to the west can bog a truck. Date changes are free with 24 hours notice.
Do I have to clean the porta potty after the party?
No. You do not clean or empty anything. Leave the door closed and the unit where it sits. On pickup day our driver pumps the tank, loads the unit and takes it back to our Dallas Dr yard, where it is washed, sanitized and restocked.
