How many porta potties does your party need?

Step 1

Start with 1 per 50

Plan 1 standard porta potty per 50 guests for a party up to 4 hours. That is our house method, used on every call.

Step 2

Longer party, more units

For 4–8 hours, plan 1 unit per 35 guests. Over 8 hours, plan 1 per 25 guests. Round up every time.

Step 3

Serving alcohol? Add 1

Add 1 unit for every 100 guests when alcohol is served, with a minimum of 1 extra unit.

Step 4

Serving food? Add hand washing

Add 1 hand-wash station for every 2 toilets, minimum 1. In our call review, 9 of 27 callers asked about hand washing.

Step 5

Plan an accessible unit

Make at least 5% of units in each cluster wheelchair-accessible, minimum 1, following 2010 ADA Standards §213.2.

Worked example

100 guests, 4 hours, a bar = 3 units

100 ÷ 50 = 2 units. Add 1 for alcohol = 3 standard units. Food served? Add 2 hand-wash stations.
