How many jobsite toilets does OSHA require?

The Table D-1 counts in plain English, plus the service schedule we recommend.

20 or fewer workers

1 toilet

OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51(c), Table D-1: a site with 20 or fewer workers needs at least 1 toilet.

20 to 199 workers

1 seat + 1 urinal per 40

Our standard PolyJohn PJN3 has both a toilet seat and a urinal in one unit.

200 or more workers

1 seat + 1 urinal per 50

We suggest clusters of units near each work area so no crew walks far.

Hand washing

Washing facilities: 1926.51(f)

OSHA also requires washing facilities. A 2-sink hand-wash station holds about 34 gallons of fresh water, soap and paper towels.

Our recommendation

Weekly service, included

Weekly service up to 10 workers; twice weekly for 11–20. In Denton summers, around 96°F in July, crews of 10+ should add a second visit. That is our advice, not the legal minimum.
